Chef-owner Shri Tikka Ram Sharma has been in the kitchen for over 30 years -- he did stints at both Bombay Palace and Bukara in Chicago, and owned restaurants in Omaha, Nebraska and Champaign-Urbana, before opening this Lincoln Park eatery. Appetizers include favorites like samosa, a crispy turnover stuffed with seasoned potatoes, peas and coriander, and pakora, chickpea-battered and deep-fried vegetables. Items prepared in the tandoor clay oven are a house specialty, and include choices like marinated lamb chops, jumbo prawns and a whole pomfret (butterfish). Vegetarian offerings include saag paneer, fresh spinach and house-made cottage cheese with spices, and bhindi masala, okra with onions, tomatoes and spices. There's even a plethora of breads to chose ranging from the traditional Naan (white flour) to Onion Kulcha (stuffed with spices). Mango kulfi, an Indian-style mango ice cream is one of the dessert choices. The weekend lunch buffet, which features an array of favorites, is offered for a fixed price.
