Although this Pilsen barbecue spot officially opened in September 2007, owner/pitmaster Willie Wagner has been running his catering biz out of this address since May 2006. Wagner -- who took third place in 2008 in the pork shoulder division at the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest -- offers apple-and-oak-smoked meats such as pulled pork and beef brisket, plus sides like cornbread and baked beans and peach cobbler and other homemade desserts. On weeknights, dinner is served in the Old West-themed bar area; the dining room provides additional seating on weekends. The eatery also serves snacks like a cheese-and-cracker plate and homemade empanadas until 1 a.m.; and if you'd like to tap your toes while getting ready for your rib tips, jazz, blues and country acts take the stage every night but Tuesday.
