Hilary’s Cookies
After years of selling her vegan cookies -- which contain no trans fats or hydrogenated oils -- in local Whole Foods stores, owner Hilary Black set up shop in Lincoln Square offering a variety of 12-15 creative cookies a day. Black's chocolate-coffee, seasonal pumpkin-pie spice and other cookies, all made using organic sugar, are displayed in large cookies jars and can be enjoyed at a recycled wood table inside the eatery. Morning commuters can pair their Crop to Cup coffee with a whole-grain breakfast cookie with add-ins such as oatmeal and cashews. For a start-of-the-day sugar boost, pick up a pre-packaged box of cookies or one of the eatery's cookie cupcakes, layered with cream cheese, lemon curd and other fillings.
