The Lawless family, which also owns neighboring restaurant the Gage, named this Michigan Avenue eatery after architect Louis Henri Sullivan, who designed the building that houses it. The space, once occupied by Roosevelt University, is designed to replicate a European salon, with white tablecloths, settees lining the walls and upholstery reminiscent of a Sullivan stencil drawing. Gage executive chef Dirk Flanigan helms a kitchen that turns out classic American fare with a contemporary twist; steak, fish and game dishes prepared using locally sourced ingredients figure heavily on the menu, which changes frequently.
