This mostly vegetarian (no farm, no fowl) Wicker Park restaurant serves up bar food with international flavor in an offbeat bicycle-themed atmosphere, which includes furniture made from recycled bicycle parts. Opt for veggie or vegan fare such as veggie samosas, black beans maduro or one of a few seafood entrees, including blackened catfish and fish tacos. Eclectic dessert fare includes fry pies, hand-made mini-pies stuffed with fillings such as bourbon-pecan or peanut butter and jelly. Handlebar also sports a strong beer list with a focus on Midwestern brews. In the summer, the back patio is a big draw.
