'We're a toy store for musicians,' explained store manager Ed Mooney. He claims to have the largest collection of Hawaiian guitars in the state, including a prized 1928 National Triplate--although he says these gems are not for sale. Where Flatts & Sharpe puts its focus is on the beginning musician. The store may have the largest selection of instructional books outside of the Loop. As for instruments, Mooney offers acoustical guitars starting at $67--an attractive price for people just starting out. For more discerning players with deeper pockets, there are also $2,000 guitars and a wide range of harmonicas in all keys (including the rare ones, like E-flat and B). 'We're not a high-end store, but we'll have things here that are hard to find,' Mooney said.
