You won't find any frozen food or microwaved patties at this Hyde Park outpost of the made-to-order burger chain out of Arlington, Va., set to open in mid-September. In fact, there's no freezer on site and the kitchen is open so you can watch cooks work the grills and fryers. (Additional evidence that your skin-on, peanut oil-fried French fries are fresh: huge bags of potatoes stored near the counter.) Though the menu highlights hand-formed ground beef burgers with no extra charge for toppings such as grilled mushrooms, green peppers and grilled onions, you also can order up a kosher hot dog or grilled cheese. And here's an amenity you won't find at most fast-food burger joints: Five Guys provides free peanuts to occupy your time while you wait.
