One of the city's most famous (arguably infamous) punk rock/dance clubs, Exit revels in its own punch-in-the-nose energy. Downstairs is a spacious bar and lounge area appointed with gothic light fixtures, treacherous looking ceiling fans and a bar back decorated with both gas masks and sacrificed lingerie. Near the back, vintage motorcycles bolted to the floor provide unusual seating. Upstairs is a caged dance floor and a second bar modeled to look like the side of an armored car. Deejays spin nightly, specializing in old-school punk, metal, ska and lounge-core. Despite appearances, Exit is very inviting, and the people, in all their black leather finery, are among the friendliest around. Just don't show up in a polo and khakis; you'll get in . . . but you might not make it out.
