Step inside this '50s throwback Wicker Park diner and you’ll find a homey, retro vibe and comfort eats for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The folks of next-door-neighbor Picante are behind this sit-down BYOB spot, which features a full line-up of breakfast favorites like grilled sandwiches, three-egg omelettes, benedicts and pancakes. Reborn from the bones of a former Jewish funeral parlor (with antique stained-glass windows still in tact), you’ll find nods to the old space throughout the menu – for instance Eggs Benowitz, a bagel topped with nova lox, poached egg and hollandsaise sauce, or the Challah French Toast. They’re brewing Dark Matter Coffee and will feature granola from down-the-block neighbor, Milk & Honey Cafe. For those looking to indulge their sweet tooth, there’s also shakes and malts, floats, cheesecake and housemade muffins and pastries. Also look for a DJ spinning during weekend brunches.
