Rich Kewitz, who's also involved with Ukrainian Village's Innjoy, opened this "fancy fast-food" spot in 2012. Think gourmet hot dogs (including a vegan version), venison sausage and other snacks with international influences. Menu items include chorizo sloppy joes, Vesuvio chicken wings and fried pickles. Named after a free-spirited surfer Kewitz met years ago in California, the restaurant's mustard yellow, green and red interior is decorated with travel mementos and surfing gear. The eatery expects to draw Blue Line commuters, locals en route to the nearby Congress Theater and late-night diners; in summer, Daddy Cool's also plans to show movies on one of its outdoor patio walls.
