Located near Union Station, Currents on the River's decor reflects its aquatic name, with green and blue walls and an aquarium stocked with 20 types of freshwater fish. This weekdays-only American bistro also features white tablecloths, a focus on locally sourced ingredients and creative dishes prepared by chef John McMahon that incorporate international elements from his years touring as a personal chef for bands such as the Eagles. Offerings include dishes made with Moroccan lamb sausage and a beet-based vegan burger. Diners can also snack on grilled wings served with Green River hot sauce, made using Green River soda as a base, or stop by during lunch to see chefs cook a daily stir-fry, pasta or other special at the dining room saute station.
