Cosley Zoo is picture-perfect and packs a lot into a small space. The pristine duck pond is home to several kinds of waterfowl. The clean barn and surrounding fenced areas house cows and horses, sheep and burros, goats and chickens. The wildlife area features birds and mammals native to Illinois, as well as exotic species. Don't be surprised if you encounter a peacock strutting freely around the grounds. The area is gradually being remodeled so that their spaces resemble natural habitats and offer some barriers but natural exhibits for visitors. A gift shop is located in a former train depot (which dates to 1887) and children can climb into a caboose next to it. A concession stand is open during the warm months and there is an area for enjoying picnics.
