Cafe des Architectes, located in the lobby of the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower, is a modern, French-influenced brasserie with dramatic appointments created by interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. Vibrant colors, overstuffed chairs, sprawling banquettes and lamps that employ upside-down toques as lamp shades grab your attention. The menu is helmed by Executive Chef Greg Biggers, who cultivates relationships with local farmers into a la carte and five- or seven-course tasting menus. The seasonally-inspired menu begins with cheese flights and starters like Kumamoto Oysters or Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras with black pepper financier, violet mustard-blackberry jam and braised pear. Seasonal entrees round out the menu, with options like Guinea Hen, Muscovy Duck Breast and Mother's Milk Fed Veal Loin with orange carrot purée, braised rapini and a huckleberry reduction.
