Cafe des Architectes, located in the lobby of the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower, is a modern, French-influenced brasserie with dramatic appointments created by interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. Vibrant colors, overstuffed chairs, sprawling banquettes and lamps that employ upside-down toques as lamp shades grab your attention. The menu is helmed by Executive Chef Greg Biggers, who cultivates relationships with local farmers into a la carte and five- or seven-course tasting menus. The seasonally-inspired menu begins with cheese flights and starters like Kumamoto Oysters or Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras with black pepper financier, violet mustard-blackberry jam and braised pear. Seasonal entrees round out the menu, with options like Guinea Hen, Muscovy Duck Breast and Mother's Milk Fed Veal Loin with orange carrot purÃ©e, braised rapini and a huckleberry reduction.
