The Boss Bar (a wall mural of "Hizzoner" Richard J. Daley greets customers) is River North's late-night hangout, which caters to the eclectic mix of people, both young and old, who frequent it. By 4:30 a.m. on Sunday morning it can get weird, but it's generally a laid-back, shot-and-a-beer, regular crowd that enjoys conversation (a woman bartender said that she and her friends would "never think twice about coming here alone.") Besides the name, mural and a couple pix of "Da Mayor," there's really no theme; the always popular shite walls with green trim, copper ceiling, the odd beer sign, a skyline poster, four televisions for sports and typical pictures of drunken revelry. But they do have a good classic rock and decent alternative CD jukebox.
