This River North eatery is decorated with images of famous authors from Chicago and France, including Ernest Hemingway and Jean-Paul Sartre. In another nod to Hemingway, the owners serve a Harry's Bloody Ernest cocktail, based on the original bloody mary that debuted at Harry's New York Bar Paris in the 1920s. The restaurant's theme was actually designed to echo Harry's vibe, featuring a high tin ceiling, black-and-white tile floors and dark red leather banquettes. While snacking on traditional French fare, patrons will be able to sample French champagnes and wines that aren't available anywhere else in the country inside the long, narrow dining room; in warm weather, an outdoor sidewalk area seats 12.
