The first location of Birrieria Zaragoza goes through as many as nine goats in a single weekend--that's how popular their birria (a spicy Mexican goat stew) is. Zaragoza's second location in Melrose Park still serves its meat steamed, seasoned with an ancho-based mole, oven-braised and finished with an all-natural tomato-based consomme. (Most birrierias serve the goat meat with fat drippings.) If you prefer a specific cut of meat (ribs versus shank, for example), just ask. Most folks come here for the birria, but the delicious cheese quesadillas are a good option for less adventurous diners. Otherwise, the menu is limited.
