This family-owned Vietnamese eatery in Uptown, which began as a sandwich stand in Saigon, is best known for its barbecue pork, ham and other French-Vietnamese sandwiches, or banh mi. Served on homemade baguettes and wrapped in wax paper, most of the hand-held creations include traditional pickled daikon, carrots, cilantro and jalapeno garnishes. Side options include light staples such as Vietnamese-style shrimp spring rolls and cold rice noodle salad. There's also an in-house bakery; from chocolate croissants to Vietnamese iced coffee, everything's prepared on site. Want to try your hand at banh mi at home? Ba Le also sells packages of fresh-baked baguettes to go.
