You get immediate clues when you enter this colorful Ravenswood bakery that this is no run-of-the-mill spot. In addition to the festive custom-made cakes and displays of goodies like scones and brownies, chef-owner Stephanie Samuels has decorated the bakery with her personal collection of Easy Bake Ovens. Samuels's custom-made cakes feature flavors like cappuccino with mocha buttercream frosting, and past creations have included a beehive-shaped cake, and a cutesy Carmen Miranda number. Angel Food also specializes in childhood faves such as a Twinkie-like "Airstream"; a Sno Ball-ish treat dubbed the "Igloo"; and even a version of a Fig Newton bar. In addition to pastry, breakfast sandwich specials are available -- the prosciutto with brie-and-fig jam makes regular appearances. Lunch features sandwiches like poached chicken breast with red onion marmalade, plus soup and vegetable frittatas. Sunday brunch features choices like baked French toast and trout foccaccia.
