When Red Ivy owner Jesse Boyle and partners discovered a hidden treasure of a room adjacent to Red Ivy, they had two choices: Knock down the walls and expand the bar, or keep it separate and preserve its vintage Prohibition-era feel. The opted for the latter, and reimagined the space as a speakeasy with tin ceilings, mosaic floors, red velvet booths and even a vintage cash register. Enter through Red Ivy and ask to be escorted to this separate space, where the theme carries to everything from the servers' flapper get-ups to liquor bottles concealed in tomato sauce containers to signature drinks served in teacups. With jazz on the speakers and a 50-something gentleman manning the bar, the owners are definitely aiming for an entirely different vibe than Red Ivy, but considering the proximity, whether the scene will be all that different remains to be seen.
