My Chicago Weekend

We were in the Chicago area to visit some friends over the weekend. These are a few of the places that helped fill our time (and our stomachs).

    Kernel Fabyan's - 4 1/2

    511 S. 3rd St - Geneva

Delicious, delicious popcorn. My fav is the Nelly's combo (caramel corn and cheddar popcorn). My hubby is in love with the white cheddar. Literally.

    Topo Gigio Ristorante - 4

1516 N. Wells St. - Chicago (Old Town)

The short wait was nice on a chilly night in Chicago's Old Town. The staff was friendly and hard working and the food was delicious. The menu includes way more than the expected spaghetti and lasagna. I really enjoyed their pumpkin ravioli special.

    Lou Malnati's Pizzeria - 4 1/2

    131 W. Jefferson Ave. - Naperville

The deep-dish pepperoni pizza, garlic bread and Malnati's Antipasto Salad were the perfect ending to our weekend.

    The Second City - 3 1/2

1616 N. Wells St. - Chicago (Lincoln Park)

We saw the late "No Country for Old White Men" show and it wasn't as political as I expected. My favorite part was the after-show improv set. We've certainly got material to laugh about for at least a week.

Third Street Shopping District - 0

We spent a few hours shopping in downtown Geneva. My favorite purchase was a colorful pearl bracelet.

    Nosh - 4 1/2

    211 James St. - Geneva

Nosh was our first stop on Saturday for a noon-ish brunch. I really enjoyed my Plain Jane eggs benedict and because the menu looked so amazing, I couldn't pass up a tasting of their French Toast. I'll definitely be back to "nosh" on the many other amazing-sounding dishes on their menu.
