New York Stomping Grounds
As a former New Yorker (now transplanted in the Midwest), these are some of the places I usually visit when I am back in the Big Apple.
-
Verlaine -
110 Rivington St. - New York (Lower East Side)
Report this commentNot only can you appreciate a happy hour until 10 PM, but the $4 lychee martinis can't be beat!
-
Schiller's Liquor Bar -
131 Rivington St - New York (Lower East Side)
Report this commentOne of my favorite drinks at Schiller's is the Country Time -- which has freshly muddled strawberries, vodka and lemonade. These go down pretty smoothly, which is a good or a bad thing depending on how you look at it.

Veniero's -
342 E. 11th St. - New York (East Village)
Report this commentFrom the cannolis to the chocolate strawberry banana shortcake, I haven't found a dessert there that hasn't been delicious!
-
Zen Palate -
34 E. Union Square - New York
Report this commentTwo words for you -- Shredded Melody.
-
Grimaldi's -
19 Old Fulton St. - Brooklyn (Brooklyn Heights)
Report this commentThis is probably one of the places that I crave the most! Great flavors, and well worth the wait, even when the line is up the block.
-
Jacques Torres Chocolate -
66 Water St. - Brooklyn (Fulton Ferry)
Report this commentThe hot chocolate is "wicked" good!
-
Peter Luger Steak House -
178 Broadway - Brooklyn (South Side)
Report this commentTop notch porterhouse -- and worth the sometimes inconvenient reservation times of 4:30 PM and 10:30 PM.

Road Trip!
I'm going to Chicago in a week for the biggest, badest, bestest fest this summer. The best part? Free entry (I'm volunteering) and free sleeping (thanks sister).
