Mistaken identities! Exploding SUVs! Birthday parties gone terribly awry! The freshman year finale of “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” left viewers with one mighty cliffhanger, and the show picks up exactly where it left off, with the main characters off and running yet again. (No, seriously, there’s so much running.)

The biggest problem for Sarah this season is that there’s only one thing she can’t protect her son from, and that’s poor John’s own cyborg fetish. His squishy feelings for robot defender Cameron are clouding his judgment—though her feelings for him seem anything but amorous in the season premiere. Take into account the nefarious agenda of corporate America, a handful of angry robots and Brian Austin Green, and you’ve got one mother with her hands full.

Who’s that?
Lena Headey still plays believable super-mom Sarah to perfection, while Thomas Dekker‘s teen angst is two parts TV magic and one part grating child actor (there’s a reason these aren’t the “John Connor Chronicles”). But the biggest news this season has to be the arrival of a new villain in businesswoman baddie Catherine Weaver, played by the very Scottish Shirley Manson, making her TV debut after over a decade singing with Garbage.

The buzz:
This show was a ratings success in its first season, but that was when it was kind of the only thing to watch. Facing a full schedule, will fans keep tuning in or might they be too busy watching shows like “Chuck” or “Gossip Girl?”

The “ooh” factor: There are so many crashes, chases and explosions in any given episode, it’s like getting a new installment of the film franchise in your living room every week. Sans Arnold, of course.

The “eh” factor: All of that action can be kind of overwhelming. It also makes you wonder if it’s really serving the plot or if they're just hesitant to give the characters any time to speak.

The verdict: Your attention might drift a couple of times during the hour, and Brian Austin Green sure isn't doing us any favors, but “Terminator” still perfectly illustrates two of life's constants: robots are hot, and explosions are cool.

The new season of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" premieres Monday, September 8, at 8pm/7c on FOX.

It's the only show I really look forward to, there are some other good shows on but I actually really look forward to this one!
