Fans of Hewitt's underwear commercials rejoice: The new season of CBS hit "Ghost Whisperer" kicks off with—you guessed it!—a gratuitous shot of Hewitt in a black lace masterpiece.
Who’s that? A doughy Jay Mohr and an even doughier Jamie Kennedy round out the cast of haunted ladies and gents. Should we be concerned that Mohr is concurrently starring in two CBS shows ("Whisperer" and the surprisingly watchable "Gary Unmarried")?
The "ooh" factor: Jennifer Love Hewitt's commitment to the sometimes fun, sometimes cheesy premise remains the sole reason to tune in. Also, see: gratuitous shots of Hewitt in things that are black and lacy.
The "eh" factor: I smell dead people? Partway through the season opener, we're told that some people can't communicate with ghosts like Gordon, but they can smell them (apparently, they reek of "rotting garbage"). Um, OK.
The verdict: Sometimes we wish there were less ghost whispering and more ghost arse-kicking. There's a reason it wasn't called "Buffy the Vampire Whisperer."
"Ghost Whisperer" airs Fridays at 8pm ET/PT on CBS.
