Either way, she’ll be missed—especially by Mariah (Kristy even gave the newly emancipated Mimi goose bumps!). As for the judges’ reactions to the other contestants, they weren't as overwhelmingly generous. Tuesday’s performances were met with butterflies, frustration and even yearnings for... grilling?
The judges’ table
Simon's harshest slam: Regarding Brooke's lackluster performance: “It was a bit like ordering a hamburger and only getting the bun.” Brooke abstains from everything else in life, so it would figure if she were a vegetarian. Simon’s comment was met with several musings on hamburger construction by the other judges and, of course, this week’s classic Paula-ism.
Randy’s most repetitive comment: The dawg dumped his trusty catalog of “pitchy” and “pitch problems” for that nasal noise of uncertainty he reserves for performances he cannot describe. How this man was even remotely involved in the formation of Mariah Carey’s career is unfathomable.
Least intelligible Paula-ism: Paula thought it fit to whip out a reference to ads of yesteryear when Simon’s hamburger comment sparked her to ask, “Where’s the beef?” No one replied or acknowledged her presence.
The good, the bad and the pitchy
The frontrunners: David2, you are the only two contestants to completely avoid the bottom three. Everyone else has been there at least twice, and everyone else will fall before you.
The dark horses: Brooke’s appeal has officially left the building, but if she keeps her comments to herself, we guess she could still win. As for Syesha, she may be a consistent constituent of the bottom three, but to heck with anyone who didn’t think she put everyone else to shame on Tuesday.
Who’s going next: One week off and one week on. The bottom three has been an especially rough rollercoaster for Carly and Jason. Things will get a whole lot easier for one of them when they go home next week though. (Cough, cough. Carly!)
