My girlfriend got sick from dinner (from somewhere else!) just before the show started and while I ended up watching almost a half-hour of the show waiting for her to come back, the staff was nice enough to offer our entire party tickets to the next evenings show. By all means they could have asked my girlfriend to leave and done nothing for us, bt they went out of their way to be helpful and treat us like VIP. While our friends stayed and said the show (No Country for Old White Men) was tremendous and hilarious we left at the first intermission with two complimentary bottles of water and plans for Saturday night. They made what could have been an awful evening into a memorable one and we cant wait to see the show in its entirety tonight!
Thank you to the exceptional staff at second city.
Report This ReviewMy husband and I had the best time last week at The Second City. We got there really early and the man at the door seated us up on the elevated section where short little me could even see everything. We ordered drinks and a cheese plate and had a great time talking to the old man next to us. The Barack show cracked us up! Everyone was so funny - I especially liked the jazz duo scene and the song where they sing about being socially awkward. I can't wait to go back!
Report This ReviewThe Second City Rocks! I'm not sure what show or theatre some of these other reviewers have been to... but the Second City revue I saw with my family (ages 16 to 61) this past Labor Day weekend was hilarious! "Between Barack and a Hard Place" was so funny and the satire was right on... they will pick on everyone--conservatives and liberals! I think the show was so good because it was a great mix of observation and political humor-- what they are famous for....So relax, lighten up and have a good laugh at yourself and this messed up but GREAT country!
Report This ReviewThis place used to be good, before they made every show about politics and world affairs and trying to push their opinions on you. If i wanted world news I'll put on CNN! You know some people would like to go and see a comedy show that makes them forget about the problems in the world, not shove them in your face! I won't be back here until they can find some neutral, fun comedy material like they used to! Second City get off it! It's not funny!
Report This ReviewWent there on a Sunday night with friends and had a great time. I highly recommend going, as it's always very funny. One complaint: Some of the chairs are RIGHTonTOP of each other so, if you're tall, you might be cramped if you don't get in line early for a good seat.
Report This ReviewThis place is horrible. Nothing more than a name now. Used to be phenominal, now it is over-priced and terribly unentertaining. The comedy writing/acting was so bad, me and our guests were not laughing but crying b/c we paid so much. R.I.P. 2nd city!
Report This ReviewSave your money and forget the hype. If you want smart and funny political comedy watch the Daily Show and forget this garbage. I was fooled one too many times into believing that Second City was the place to go. After getting burned the past three times we went there - terrible material (really third rate! I was so surprised), poor service and stale performances (again, so surprised). I had two friends come in from out of town I took them to the show and was really embarrassed at the quality. I hear the Monday shows are even worse, though they are cheaper.
Report This ReviewThe comedy was alright, but the seating actually made it painful, there is no reason other than $ to cram so many people in the space...I wouldnt do it again, the person in front of you is actually in your lap.
