The Viaduct Theater
Located on the lower level of Western Avenue, next door to (what else?) a viaduct, the theater, which is used by a number of theatrical groups, has two spaces. The cabaret provides a cozy setting for one-person performances and intimate shows, while the larger, 4,500-square-foot thrust-stage space features productions that range from classic Greek tragedies such as ``Oedipus'' and ``Antigone'' to such modern absurdist fare as Harold Pinter's ``The Caretaker.'' The sound and sightlines are good to excellent.
As of April 2008, the Viaduct is partnering with HotHouse, so that the space will be occupied with HotHouse-booked music performances for half the year and Viaduct-programmed theater performances for the other half, with several transitions between music and theater throughout the year.
