I had never been to the Chopin Theater - never even heard of it - until recently when I was going to see a production there. I was delighted to find it a quirky/kitschy venue with tons of over-the-top art pieces, well-stocked/reasonably-priced concessions, nice lobby and a way-cool lower lounge level complete with more gaudy artwork, resale-shop over-stuffed furniture, low tables, chandeliers and a full bar. As for the theater-space itself I think it is great. One of the nicest I have been to. Nice size, comfy seats, not a bad seat in the house - and Air-Conditioned. I confess to a LakeView/BoysTown/Lincoln Park bias toward off-beat theater spaces so I was stunned to see such a truly nice place so far off the beaten path. Plus it has parking! And is easy to get to by public transportation or cab. Frankly, the only bad thing about the place are the bathrooms - which could use a bit more attention - but other than that you will be quite pleased with the experience. I know I will be back...
