Opened in 1996, the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie (NSCPAS) houses three resident companies: Centre East, Northlight Theatre and Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra. Celebrated performers Bill Cosby, Marvin Hamlisch, Crystal Gale, Ahmad Jamal, Bill Maher and Twyla Tharp Dance Company have graced the stages, in addition to local performance companies such as Ensemble Espagnol and Hubbard Street Dance Company. The North Shore Center for the Performing Arts is available for special events, and is conveniently located adjacent to Old Orchard Shopping Center and the North Shore DoubleTree Hotel.
