Police are investigating what role the cold may have played in the death of a man found in the back seat of a parked car on the city's North Side Tuesday night.

Authorities said Ozferato Von Walters, 47, was in the back seat of a Buick parked in the 2900 block of West Argyle Street along River Park when he was found about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.

An autopsy that was scheduled for Wednesday morning was postponed because Walters' body was still frozen, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Police responded to a well-being-check call and discovered the victim unresponsive, Officer Amina Greer said. It was unclear how long he may have been dead.

Von Walters' lived in the 6200 block of North Lawndale Avenue. His wife, Donna, reached by phone at their home Wednesday night, said she filed a missing persons report after her husband went missing.

She said they had a young son together.

"He was not anywhere near homeless, he put our baby to bed every night," she said in a telephone interview. She said she was hoping to talk more with police about her husband before commenting more about him.

Temperatures dropped to the lower 20s Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service. This weekend they are expected to fall even lower with wind chills under 20 below.
