Abigail Glaum-Lathbury

This recent Art Institute grad will hawk twice as much of her quirky women’s clothing this year as she did at the 2007 event. Known for off-the-wall muses, her spring collection was inspired by insects; you’ll see high-waisted dresses that evoke a bug’s elongated abdomen (pictured), or a tank top with sheer layers modeled after the curvy stratum of a wasp’s nest.

You’ll recognize: Her enormous hexagonal tortoise-shell glasses

First design attempt: Dissecting and reworking a batch of 30 vintage evening dresses she scored at an auction house for $3 at age 13

Cost: $25-$100 for discounted fall items; $150-$300 for new spring pieces
