The '09 update: To be a part of the Carringtons in the '80s—money, oil, Joan Collins and scandal—would be too good to be true. The style, however, is just absurd. The gross overuse of sequins, shoulder pads and power dressing is enough to make any '80s-phile shudder. But fight it though you may, pads are slowly working their way into the shoulders of garments again, mostly in blazers for the moment (but let’s just hope that blazers aren’t the gateway into the rest of fashion!).
