Chicago-based designer Erin Gallagher's dazzling contemporary creations have adorned the jewelry cases of boutiques around the city and suburbs for years; now you can find her earrings, bracelets and rings all on one place in her West Loop boutique, which opened in September 2007. In the front of the shop, you'll fine antique cases filled with elegant ready-made 18K gold pieces. Each style is christened with a feminine name, from Greta, a drapey necklace of gold loops to the dangly smoky quartz Marian earrings. In the rear of the store is a workroom where you'll find least one EG artist at work on any given day, crafting jewelry for wholesale orders from Nordstrom and other area boutiques. There, you can work with the staffers to create your own custom piece from scratch or from mix-and-match options displayed on the wall to suit your style Custom designs usually take two weeks, but rush jobs for special occasions aren't out of the question, says business manager Melissa Bocker, who is also Gallagher's cousin.
