The fluidity of Ani Afshar’s jewelry stems in part from her years as a textile designer, when she found herself weaving beads into the fabrics she created. This technique inspired the ethereal necklaces she makes today—layers of semi-precious stones and freshwater pearls strung on nearly invisible wire strands. Champagne and martini glasses display these baubles in her Lincoln Park boutique, which Afshar says attracts customers of all ages, though she does have a special bridal following.
