"Civility is not a sign of weakness," is the motto of Chandra Greer, the poised and pleasant shopowner of this Wells Street paper and gift shop. Though you'll find a seemingly endless supply of elegant stationery here by high-end names like Vera Wang, fun trinkets like a sushi-shaped stapler and calculator that could be mistaken for a chocolate bar go miles to temper the seriousness. Greer dutifully supports local paper lines such as La Familia Green, Binth and Art School Girl, plus a towering antique armoire packed with cherry blossom-print cards and notepads by Snow & Graham. If you perpetually prefer e-mail to thank-you cards and evites to cute invitations, this store is still worth a stop to check out the beautifully patterned ribbon by the yard, sculptural desk accessories by Montreal-based Colin Schleen, and gift-worthy tokens for kids, such as flashcards by "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" author/illustrator Eric Carle.
