Flor, the Elmhurst-based maker of modular carpet tiles loved by apartment dwellers, eco-obsessed homeowners and design geeks alike, opens its first retail store next door to Jayson Home & Garden in Lincoln Park on June 19.
A few carpet tiles can link together to make a custom area rug, while a ton of tiles can fully carpet a whole room (pictured). They're removable in the case you move to a new place -- or spill red wine on one and need to replace it. In addition to being toxin-free and made from recycled materials, you can also send your tiles back to Flor for recycling when they've reached the end of their lifetime.
