At this eclectic home goods store, customers range from condo dwellers seeking stylish but space-conscious furniture to big-budget Barrington homeowners. Also an interior designer, owner Bill Bruss' guiding principle is "not to pigeonhole yourself into one look," he says. Mixing light and dark woods or matching contemporary and traditional pieces is part of the fun, he says, so you'll find a variety of medium- to high-end wares here. Compact and bold furniture, like cherry-red, high-backed steel chairs and Tiffany-blue bar stools have been favorites for apartment owners, while loungey leather chairs and a console fashioned from a gigantic tree root would catch almost anyone's eye. Plenty of artwork (most pieces hand-signed by the artist), mirrors and light fixtures round out the offerings.

Later this year, Design, Inc. is planning a move to 1139-43 W. Grand Ave., to a larger space across from May Street Market.
