This University Village boutique draws inspiration from its own storied neighborhood -- a community of turn-of-the-century facades and luxe new homes. With an interior mimicking an old-fashioned bistro and apparel at once practical and couture, The Gourmet Clothing Co. takes its cue from the surrounding mix of new and old. Tabletops adorned with folded apparel occupy the front of the store, which resembles a dining area, while top-of-the-line items can be found on the back wall, which employees call "the kitchen.” The focus is on denim: Urban-chic lines like True Religion, Rock & Republic, Brown Label and Monarchy reign supreme. You’ll also find tough-girl dresses by Salvage, quirky T-shirts by David and Goliath and some shoes and accessories, like sneakers by PF Flyers or a pair of Dolce&Gabbana sunglasses.
