Mulberry & Me

Time spent living on Mulberry Street in New York's chic Nolita neighborhood inspired Jana Zacek to open her own women's clothing boutique here in Chicago. To stock the racks here, Zacek zeroes in on garments that fall into one of two categories: They're either beautiful basics (like a drapey cardigan sweater or bamboo black leggings with denim styling) or super-special (like a one-shoulder frock with a city skyline screen-printed by hand). In doing so, she also has a discerning eye for high quality and reasonable prices, so you'll find most pieces landing between $100 and $300. As you browse the racks, shift your eyes toward the shelves above -- that's where you'll find framed photos of an in-stock dress worn by a runway model, mixed in with snapshots of girls from the neighborhood modeling their purchases.
