Can't afford to wear the designers you covet? Thumbing through the jam-packed racks at this designer consignment shop, you may just find a buried treasure. This outpost of McShane's is significantly smaller than the second location on Armitage. Some items are a bit worse for wear or seriously frumpy, while others are in near-perfect condition.
Got some designer threads to get rid of? No appointment is necessary to bring in your items (clean, hung-on-hangers clothing, shoes, handbags and jewelry) for consideration, but there are a few rules. Eight high-end designer pieces are required to open a consignment account; beyond that, chain store stuff (think Gap, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor) is fair game. McShane's will keep your duds on display for two months; if they don't sell, you can pick them up or they'll donate them to Catholic Charities of Chicago.
