Former roller derby girl Remey Rozin packs her petite Wicker Park boutique with T-shirts and edgy accessories that all revolve around the rock 'n' roll, hot rod lifestyle.
While proffering her own line of T-shirts at trade shows around the country over the years, Rozin met a diverse group of designers from the east and west coasts whose wares she couldn't find here in Chicago. So when she opened her own boutique, she brought in a range of fun and funky lines that most customers haven't seen before. In the long glass jewelry case, check out chunky bedazzled pendants by Los Angeles-based Gasoline Glamour (seen on Pixie of TLC's "L.A. Ink"). The handbags sold here are vintage-inspired and bright, from Trophy Queen's retro glitter vinyl bags to slick purses with racing stripes by New York-based brand Hell's Bells Finishing School for Girls. After spotting the same roughed-up leather belts all along shops on Melrose in L.A., she tracked down St. Louis-based maker Leather Island and now sells the belts in her store.
The clothing here is limited mostly to T-shirts, hoodies and jackets from the in-house Broken Cherry line, but you'll also find Lucy B lingerie and Sailor Jerry boxers for guys. For rock star babies, onesies with tattoo and skull-and-crossbones prints are edgily precious. Interesting fact: Broken Cherry is also a full-service web design and graphics company.
