Le Colonial: User Reviews
Romantic, beautiful setting with average Asian food. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and thought we were in for a relaxed (as in not rushed) dinner, but with the speed of a McDonald's drive-thru, our waiter hurried us along every step of the way. Odd, their website boasts dedicating two hours per seating, yet our waiter hovered over our table as if watching the clock - even after we told him that we didn't want to be rushed. When is the last time you had to tell your waiter to slow down? Disappointing service aside, we thought the food was average.

I love the balcony tables. The food is good but the ambience is perfect.

I took my girllfriend yesterday for her birthday and we had a great time. On Wednesdays they have the Date menu: appetizers, entree, dessert and coffee for $20. The food was good. Obviously, for $20 we didn't get lobsters but the chicken curry and the shripms with asparragus were very yummy. The best for me was service: we were seated right away, the waiters were friendly, the maitre (downstairs) was extremely nice. He invited us to a portion of cake with a candle and rushed to call a cab for us under the rain. Loved it!

The ambiance is good, but the food is embarrassing and over priced. It's not the type of food you would expect in a fine restaurant for both quality and presentation. Don't be fooled by its French connection, there is nothing French except the portion. What's urge me to write this review is they served me a cup of cappuccino with COLD cloud on top, there wasn't even any smell of coffee. I was drawn by the ambiance but so disappointed by the food and services. The experience is regretful, it left me a test of pretentiousness.

If you like exotic cuisine, unusual and intimate decor (2nd floor), this is the place.
I absolutely love it! It is pricey, but well worth it. Mango margarita is amazing!

We celebrated my Birthday at Le Colonial. The waiter took our drink order and asked us for our food order. I ordered an appetizer and told him we would like to have our drink and relax before ordering our entree. He said he would place the order and give us some time to enjoy our appetizer and drink. No sooner than we finished the last bite of our appetizer the entree came. Once the entree was finished a dessert menue was put on the table. When we declined he said don't you want to order something to put your birthday candle in. We replied no and the check came. We nwere out of the resturant in 45 minutes. I have never been so rushed in my life. While the food was great this experience left a sour taste in my mouth.

The decor of the restaurant was very much Indochine. The food was okay. The shrimp dish was presented well and tasted ordinary. The portions were really small-I walked out hungry and thinking that I paid for the ambiance.

I had high hopes for La Colonial based on reviews from friends. In two meals there I was disappointed both times. The food was just average. The atmosphere was lacking and the service was slow and poor. Won't return.

Food was okay, but not great. We sat next to a couple who made out during the entire meal and did so in a way that was loud, obnoxious and inappropriate. What made it worse was that the guy was overweight and around fifty; the woman was around twenty and looked like his daughter. When I asked the waiter to say something to them, he said if he was the owner he would. We will never return and will tell everyone we know how disappointed in Le Colonial and we will also tell them why.

I dined with a friend at Le Colonial a couple Sundays back and had a wonderful experience. We were greeted at the door by a hottie with dark black hair and eyes I could swim in who showed us to a good table, right by the window. The appetizers were good. We had the shrimp lettuce wraps and the chicken ravioli, but other ones looked good too. I'll have to try them next time. For entrees, my friend took the shrimp and asparagus, which was good and spicy, while I had the BBQ pork, also good but I liked the shrimp better.
Our server was a taller red-headed guy with the loud voice. Very helpful and attentive, if a little strange. The girl by the front (hostess? maitre 'd?) was the bomb though. We stayed to chat for a minute by the door while she got our coats, would have liked to stay longer, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, I'll be back for sure
