Hai Yen

- Chicago, IL 60614
- 773-868-4888
- Price range: $$ ($9-$15)
This Lincoln Park Vietnamese restaurant, a sister spot to Hai Yen in Uptown, is more contemporary than the Argyle Street original—look for bold touches like a red granite bar-top within the earth-toned space—and the menu's smaller. But the kitchen still turns out a variety of Vietnamese appetizers, noodle dishes and entrees, including specialties such as bun cha thang long (grilled marinated pork and steamed pork meatballs with vermicelli noodles, herbs and the house sauce) and banh uot thit nuong (grilled beef rolled in steamed rice crepes with bean sprouts and fresh pickles). The dessert menu offers Asian and American choices, and there's also an assortment of bubble teas and martinis.
