A high priced disappointment

I know my Indian food. I have tasted it from Kashmir to most corners of India. I have also tasted it in London and many major cities in Europe. The point being: I know what good Indian food tastes like. Veerasway is NOT good Indian food. The venue is cute but is quite typical of the newer Chicago establishments. I love the woven wood wall patterns. Unfortunately, I came for the food and it was really poor. I don't think I have tasted food so underspiced and even unsalted as I did at this restaurant. We had to send the scallops back for being bland and rubbery.

I would have given Veerasway 1 star but gave it 2 because their Samosa's were very hot and tasty. I will not be dining there again. For good Indian at lunch, I would head to India House on Grand. For Indian during dinner, I would go for Klay Oven. Those two are still unbeatable.

Veerasway - finally!
By susanamia from West Loop/Fulton Market, May 10, 2008

Don't miss out on this treasure because a few people who don't know good food and haven't been to India didn't like it! It's a wonderful place, and has terrific ambience, great food, and warm, personal service. I have been waiting for an Indian restaurant to open in our neighborhood, and this one has exceeded my expectations - I have spent time in India, and eat Indian food at least 4 times a week - one complaint is that I always feel overfull, as it's not the lightest cuisine in the world. Veerasway changed that - it really is Fresh Indian, just like it says on the sign - light, delicious, and not over-spicy. Couldn't be better - so glad they are here in Fulton Mkt! It doesn't claim to be traditional - there are plenty of places for that - this is just what I have waited for...

Sway Off

This place is way off the mark when it comes to Indian Food. The reviews below are saying how great the cocktails are, but is that why you go for Indian Food? We had to give this place a try since all other places were busy at lunch time and how sorry are we that we did. The tikka kabob was so bland that it belongs on the street for the homeless. How does a place that has tandoor all over the menu serve such a terrible lemon chicken? DON'T BE SWAYED INTO TRYING THIS PLACE JUST BECAUSE THE OTHERS ARE TOO BUSY. Wait for the table at your first choice and you won't be disappointed.

PLEASE disregard the negative reviews above. I dined at Veeasway last night with my girlfriend that is a seasoned Indian food lover. It was my first time to ever have Indian food and I thought it was to die for (and she agreed)! The wine selection paired perfectly with all of the food and the special drinks were such a treat. Try the Bollywood Rehab and the Veeralassi (kind of like a milkshake) – both were VERY tasty. The wait staff was incredible. Abby (our waitress) along with 3 other people served our food and asked us if everything was delicious. When we switched from the cocktails to wine the manager/owner came over to ask if we didn’t like them. We assured her that they were wonderful, but just wanted to try some other things too. The sea scallops are to die for, as is the Chicken Tikka Masala. Two thumbs up, 5 stars, yes!

Great Addition to West Randolph

Fresh, well-prepared food with super-friendly service and a cool atmosphere make Veerasway a winner. Not inexpensive, but delivers a good value given the quality of the food. Many new places I've been recently gave me that "been there, done that" feeling after dining, but Veerasway's food is unique and crave-worthy. I can envision becoming a regular. Nice job!

Good place now for Indian food that is casual, hip and affordable.
LOVED the bengali tiger, spicy and sweet cocktail. The staff is a bit young but they are friendly. Order the Coconut Sorbet with the Housemade Caramel sauce.... yummy.
Prices were good.

If you are looking for tasteless bland Indian food this is the place to go. Much better places to go in town for Indian at much better prices. Drink prices were outrageous Cheapest beer we saw was $9-

If you are looking for Indian go to Devon St
