Tap House Grill
Recently opened in the former Firkin & Fox space in downtown Glen Ellyn is Tap House Grill, which has a sibling location in St. Charles and another in the works for Westmont. We're a sucker for cheesy taglines, and this wood-paneled brew house with 20 beers on tap has got a great one: "When we pour, we reign." Appetizers are hearty and innovative, from the chili and cheese-smothered Tater Tot-chos (picture nachos with tater tots instead of chips) to the scallop corn dogs -- which aren't dogs at all, but rather scallops dipped in corn batter and then friend. There's a full roster of salads, sandwiches and entrees, ranging from baked cavatappi with meatballs to mushroom-stuffed pork chops to fish tacos. Save room for caramel-apple bread pudding or an old-fashioned root beer float.
