Prosecco : User Reviews
A group of friends recently took me to Prosecco for a birthday dinner. We'd all read positive reviews of it and were looking foward to a great experience. While the atmosphere didn't disappoint, just about everything else did. The service is hit-or-miss at best (the server forgot an entire course for the table, and began the night by reiterating the ENTIRE menu ... always a bad move); the cuisine was fine but not exceptional; the presentation wasn't great and was noticably modest; and given all this, the menu is frankly overpriced. Needless to say, glad I tried Prosecco once, but I won't be running back.
Report This Reviewi dined at prosecco recently and was very disappointed in all aspects. the server (Fred) was completely rude to me and my party - very snobbish throughout the meal. he was impatient with us as opposed to helpful to new diners. the food was bland and expected and the desserts were not worth the calories. i will NEVER dine here again. while i do think that every review should have something positive, the pea soup w/speck and pamesan croutons was quite nice - atleast i had that to fill me up. there are so many better restaurants in the city - do NOT go here!!!
Report This ReviewI made reservations for a large party to celebrate a special occasion on a Saturday night. The staff, which also consisted of the owners, were very accomodating and courteous. It is a small, quaint restaurant but our large party was serviced seamlessly. The owners came to check on us regularly to ensure we were enjoying ourselves and being served adequately.
The food was impeccable! Every one of my guests enjoyed their meals and discussed what dish they would try the next time they visited. And the menu offers a wide variety of dishes; classic italian, seafood, pork & lamb chops, chicken. Our server was very knowledgable and offered great assistance with our selections of wine and food.
I have never had such great service, great food, great environment, and great company all in one restaurant until I visited Prosecco! This place is top-notch!
Chef/owner Mark Sparacino is a superb & knowledgable chef and one of the most gracious people you'll ever meet. The service by Sommelier Victoria is impeccable. This was the best Italian cuisine dining experience I've had. Absolutely beautiful environment - wam and inviting. A true testament to Italian culture.

Everything from the moment we walked in to Prosecco was fabulous. From the drinks at the bar before dinner to our three course dinner. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. This is a wonderful restaurant and I can't wait to go back.
Report This ReviewPlease ignore all pretentious and old reviews. This place is incredible! Upon walking in --what a frenzy! Lots of well-dressed, beautiful people dining, laughing and hanging at the bar. We waited, with others, for our Saturday night reservation at the bar and the knowledgable bartenders offered us a Prosecco not even on the list! We waited for a table, but it was worth the wait. The owner showed us to our table personally. The stylish Server was so personable and answered all of our questions and even gave us a beautiful wine for $59!!! Everything she reccomended we ordered. The calamari, pasta with the truffles (oh my...), veal scallopin & shrimp/pistachio crust were amazing. Fine dining meets ristorante. We'll be back....
Report This ReviewWe eat out A LOT (probably to much) and often at fine restaurants. This one ranks highly. Apparently, they have solved a lot of their service problems in the last few months as service last night was exceptional. Attentive without being interruptive, quick to fill requests, earnest and knowledgeable. The manager appeared instantly when I inquired of a busser regarding the private dining options (and thinking of hosting our firm's event here after this experience). The food was exquisite. We asked to have a salad and appetizer and shared both and then also expressed our desire to share two entrees (mushroom/sausage risotto and the veal saltimboca). The waiter, JJ, backed up by two other fine servers, brought us the hottest extra service plates i have ever encountered, "so our sharing experience would be of hot food, rather than cool". It was perfect. The food was already plated on warm dishes, so it only enhanced the experience. The food was very very good. Unfortunately, the large menu makes it hard to pick from all the great selections. I guess we will just have to go back again and again. The room is lovely and romantic yet has a light, airy feeling. Lot's of "vanilla" colors. Wine list, like almost all in Chicago these days, is pricy, but that seems to be de rigueuer these days around here. The selections were adequate in number and the complimentary prosecco sample before dinner is a nice touch. This one could just break the curse of that location....
Report This ReviewWe had high hopes that were disappointed. With a couple of exceptions, heavy, overwrought food that has little to do with the cuisine that you would actually experience in the Veneto region, or anywhere else in Italy, for that matter. In keeping with the room decor, though. Suitable for those looking for an American-Italian experience but not for those with a hankering for the simple, clean tastes of authentic Italian (you will still have to go to A Tavola, Merlo, or Spiaggia (not the cafe) the those.)
Report This ReviewWhen I heard about Prosecco, I wanted to try it because I LOVED Narcisse, and I knew one of the owners at Prosecco owned Narcisse. I was a little hesitant to go though after reading some of the negative complaints. However, I thought the service was GREAT! Starting with the warm greeting of the host staff and the bartender. We had to wait to get seated, and the bartenders were chatty and knowledgeable. When we did sit down, we enjoyed the views of the beautiful restaurant and were given a lot of information about the various wines and Prosecco that we could order. The wait staff didn't hesitate to answer our questions about the menu (we had a lot). The food was AWESOME and there were a lot of unique options that you can't find at your average Italian restaurant. I would definitely go back again and recommend to friends.
Report This ReviewProsecco has good food, lovely atmosphere, and lousy service. The showstopper was the manager's attitude: defiant. After complaining about the lousy service she said that we should have told her earlier. Hello, you're 10 feet away at the host stand. She should have noticed all evening that the waiter was rushing around because he had too many tables. The defiant manager also stated that we were the only complaint she's had all night. ?! Like she was proud of it. Looking at Metromix I see several complaints about lousy service. I told her that she should have zero complaints. Avoid Prosecco.
