Excellent additon to Hyde Park!

My wife and I were glad we decided to dine at Park 52 for our most recent date night. It's a great restaurant with very friendly service. We both tried the chef's specials, so we'll have to return (soon) to try an entree from the regular menu. The shrimp appetizer was very, very good!! I found the wine selection to be fabulous, and the meal was delicious and nicely presented. We've already recommended it to others in the area.

Disappointing

Hyde Park finally has a premiere restaurant besides La Petite Folie. Or maybe not. The decor and ambience are great. The service is fair- our server was friendly but described the menu as if he expected that Hyde Park diners had likely never experienced fine dining. The food, unfortunately, is not exciting. Hopefully the menu is full of simple (and somewhat boring) dishes to give the kitchen a chance to turn out consistent meals before venturing into food that will be worth the price that is being charged. At this point I would recommend against this restaurant if only for the price- there are a lot of restaurants serving better food for the same or less prices.

Need More Options on Menu

The only thing that was impressive was the ambience. Other than that, they needed more variety on the menu, especially for those prices. It was hard for my friends and I to chose something that seemed half-way decent. The food was just okay. The drinks were actually very good but came in very thin glasses. For $12 each they should've come in larger glasses.

Great ambience, service and food

The room is stunning - spacioius and dramatic. The food is beautifully presented and delicious. The wait staff is eager to please. Our large group was seated near the kitchen, which added to the noise level, but which also gave us a chance to chat with the chef and observe the mechanics of service. The chef is anxious to give customers an interesting and memorable dining experience in elegant space. The 11 of us sampled a wide variety of every category on the menu. Everyone was delighted. Park 52 is a great addition to Hyde Park and to Chicago.

Beautiful venue, excellent food, great staff

This was our first visit to Park 52 and it was a lovely surprise. We were treated graciously and attentively by the wait staff and the chef. The room is elegant and spacious and the food and drink (we tried everything - wine, soup, salad, appetizers, entrees and desserts) were a delight. The chef gave us a little gift of a special tuna tartare appetizer that was delicious. Our group goes to a lot of fine Chicago area restaurants and we will definitely come back to Park 52!

Mixed Feelings...

I went to Park 52 with a group of 6 people soon after it opened, and I was slightly disappointed. The first impression was great - atmosphere is exciting (same style as Red Light & Carnivale), and our server was very attentive and friendly. The salads/appetizers were tasty, especially the wedge salad. But then I got my entree - the whitefish (which is usually very light & mild), which tasted so fishy that it was inedible. The other entrees were sub-par as well - all of the meat was dry and sides lacked flavor. I'm hoping Park 52 was just having an off night or still needs to work out some growing pains. I woudn't go out of my way to try it again though.

It was okay....

My fiance and I had dinner there last night and although the restaurant was great overall(staff, ambiance, etc), he did not enjoy his dinner. He ordered the chicken and chorizo dish: the chicken was dry and the stuffing was cold. I had the short ribs and really enjoyed my dinner, but the ribs did have some fat on them(most beef ribs do). Kinda pricey, I probably wont return.

We really enjoyed the complimentary buttermilk and goat cheese biscuits. I wasn't as impressed with the macoroni and cheese as most people seem to be, but overall the meal was good and the restaurant was really cute. I didn't find the hostess to be rude (I've read many reviews on here and on yelp that the hosts are rude).

Service was great, Food even better. I didn't really know what to expect as I have been waiting for this palce to open for a few months. It was worth the wait. My server's name was Dawn. She couldn't have been any nicer. If you are near Hyde Park you must check this palce out.

I must give this place credit I was there on Friday and this place was bumpin.... a packed house, but still had the time to deliver excellent service. I sat at the bar and talked with the bartender I think his name was Chance, he was funny, in control of the bar (despite being swamped), and made us some GREAT cocktails. I tasted some of the food... it was DELICIOUS, definately original one of a kind quisine....try the SHRIMP APP.... everyone has to check this place out definately a new neighborhood hotspot!
