We live in the neighborhood, and finally tried the Jack Rabbit. Somehow the name just never sounded that appetizing to me, but the food was excellent! We will be back in the near future.
Report This ReviewThe ceviche was amazing! Also their margarita was fantastic. I love the southwest unique menu they offer.
Report This ReviewI have been here once before and was happy w/ the service and food. Just went again w/ 4 others and a 2-year old. While we had to wait 20-minutes for our reserved table - it was worth the wait. They were so gracious and comp'd our apps. Everyone really liked their meals and the place much to my surprise was very kid-friendly. there was about 4 other tables with kids between 5:30-7. Our server was awesome, she might have been the owner. To top it off and to our surprise, everything was 1/2 off until 6;30 - nice!
Report This ReviewJack Rabbit was just the place to escape the day’s wintry blast prior to a show at the Old Town School of Folk Music. Nothing was outrageously superb, but everything was enjoyable and the staff was welcoming. Among starters, the calamari was our favorite: tender, crisp and tasty. Quesadillas were homey and good. A beet salad was acceptably flavorful. My mahi-mahi special in pineapple salsa served with greens was pleasant. We were too full for dessert, but left the table satisfied after an enjoyable meal. As a bonus, our congenial server noted that the food portion of our bill was discounted by 50% since we ordered before 6:30pm on a weeknight -- a delightful surprise! No, it’s not Frontera Grill, but it’s cozy, pleasant and convenient. I’ll be back...
Report This ReviewA- Went on a Sunday for Brunch 3 weeks ago. It was closed, although advertised as open.
B- Brought some gift certificates through a promotion for $50. Had a big problem getting them from the vendor, and when I did they were expiring, which I didn't notice until I went to use them last Friday. The manager denied the gift certificates, then they were surprised that I didn't eat there - wow, I already spend $50 for nothing at your place, now they thought I would spend more for the pleasure - no thanks.
We went there last night. No quacamole, no steak special, no manager to talk to. Our waiter was awesome but he could not give us an answer to where the manager-if there was one- was. We felt like there was a complete lack of higher authority. The food (what we could get) was decent, but nothing special. I liked the drink menu but they don't have a beer tap so everything is in bottles or a can. We sat on the patio and the people next to us brought their dog, but the waiter told them that they couldn't have one on the patio... That is the the first and ONLY place in Lincoln Square where I have seen this. I might get take out if I have a craving, but just avoid this place... It really REALLY is NOT worth it.
Report This ReviewWent to Jack Rabbit on a Friday night; luckily had a reservation as all the tables were full. We shared the chile dusted calamari, which was very tasty but not very spicy. I had the shrimp dish--shrimp were very flavorful, the polenta good and crispy, and the coleslaw very good. My husband's dinner was not so great---the fish was a bit overcooked, and the mashed potatoes were just okay. The sauteed spinach was very good though. We'll likely go back.
Report This ReviewThis place is a nice spot in the Lincoln Square area. My wife and I enjoyed the shrimp ceviche. In addition, we enjoyed our tenderloin (wrapped in bacon) and I had the ribs (a little kick to it). The drinks menu was a little limited, but I still had a cocktail and thought that the prices were very reasonable. Overall, I thought this restaurant had the feel of a River North restaurant, but was situated in our little neighborhood. I think people should note that Southwestern themed restaurants does not equal Mexican food......I didn't think I would need to clarify that, but it seems that there has been some major confusion in previous reviews.
Report This ReviewWe waited some time upon restaurant entry to be met and directed to a table though the restaurant essentially empty. I had to ask another diner for direction as to if it was a seat yourself/be seated restaurant as I was feeling a bit foolish just standing there when there were so many open tables. Once seated by a nice server, I noticed that the man who had been sitting just 2 feet away from us at the entry bar area (where I was expressing my confusion to the other dine)r to now be standing behind the bar. I assume he was either the owner or a manager (not a bartender) but obviously felt it to be above his role to address a customer's inquiry and confusion.
Our server was pleasant, respectful, but very tentative in approaching the table/us as customers. Menus were just placed on the table. No attempt at all was extended to describe/highlight the evening specials, house cocktails, or the menu.
Drinks and Food
The margaritas are small, be advised that the special house margarias pom and blood read tangerine are both very syrupy sweet. All margarias are overpriced.
The appetizers of nachos with pork and shrimp ceviche were outstanding
The steak fajitas were more like a french wine/herb sauteed beef with only onions and we would not recommend if you truly love a seared/sizzling with vegtables fajita.
The chipolte ribs had a nice flavor but chewy pork so depends how you like your ribs.
The sides had nice flavor/spice but when eating spice it is sometimes nice to have a more calm/less spicey side dish to compliment the heat
Lastly, the music is excellent but was way too loud in an empty space. They should adjust accordingly so as to assure diners can hear each other speak.
I will try again, especially the appetizers maybe with another drink, but Jack Rabbit needs to up the professionalism of service and manager involvement (the primadonna attitude and customer disengagement) and consider a 10% price reduction overall.

No Frozen fake margaritas here!! They have the best ever margaritas with a homemade base, very addictive. The food is awesome, have been there many times and not had anything I haven't liked. The staff is friendly and speedy!!
