Vegetarians will do well to stay clear of this Brazilian "churrascaria," where meat is the main attraction. Diners pay a fixed price ($49.50 at dinner, $32.50 at lunch, $20.50 for salad bar only) for a trip to the salad bar and all-you-can-eat meat carved tableside by waiters dressed in traditional Brazilian gaucho garb. Choices include leg of lamb, pork sausages, beef ribs, chicken and various cuts of beef, from filet mignon to bottom sirloin. Sides include fried bananas, polenta and seasoned mashed potatoes. The first Fogo de Chao opened in Brazil in 1979; there are now multiple locations in North America and Brazil.
