If you like burgers......SKIP THIS PLACE

I decided to try out the new burger place that my coworker had heard such raving reviews about. After all, its always good to find new places for lunch.

First, a couple comments about the restaurant itself. Epic burger portrays itself as a health, earth conscious restaurant and tries to do so by serving natural and organic products. This is very commendable but one of the first things I noticed was that stepping into the restaurant by itself might not be the healthiest choice. I don't mean it was dirty or there were rats running around the place, it was very clean. What I mean is the floor is extremely slippery! I could not help but notice that I could almost ice skate across their floor. This was on a sunny day! I can imaging the chaos that could occur there if the floor was slightly wet.

Anyway enough about the floor. I ordered the cheeseburger combo and sat at a table waiting patiently for my food. When it came it looked pretty good until I picked it up to take my first bite. When I looked closely at the burger patty it appeared to be extremely over fried and crisp. My first bite confirmed that. I would have mistaken the crispiness that I felt for bacon except that there was no bacon on the burger! I have never in my life eaten a burger that crunched in my mouth every time I took a bite.

They also brag that their fries are great but I have to dispute that as well. My fried were very limp and unseasoned despite their claim that their fries are seasoned with sea salt. Maybe they use one crystal of sea salt per batch of fries?

Overall this place was a huge disappointment and I will be steering way clear of this place again.

This is NOT McDonald!!!!

Don't let the negative reviews about the pricing steer u away from this experience. This is NOT McDonalds, if a Big Mac is worth your $5.00, then this one is definitely worth your $7.00. People say that they're limited on their options but let me see you got to any other fast food restaurant and ask for a Turkey burger or get three different choices of cheese...not gonna happen.

Very pleased with their Epic sauce, I do recommend that if your going for the regular burger and you're a light eater get the Junior but if you're into big burgers....get the regular size. I was pleased with the fries...and I always take the thinnly sliced soggy pickle off my burger but not at this place, the pickle is almost the best part. Love the environment and was shoked that at lunch time on a Monday in the loop they were very slow.....my only concern about this place is that being right in the center of the four major colleges downtown, and downtown from a college dorm that their prices are way too steap for a college student who is on a tight budget, however if they work on their advertising and get their business out there to the loop lunch crowd they'd be more than pleased with the results.

I work in the loop and only heard about this place when I read a brief article about in a magazine...worth the trip, try it, guaranteed you'll go back for more, no matter the price....really puts me in the mind of Schoop's, if you've ever had one of their burgers...so fresh you can taste the seasoning they put into it.

great food but expensive

Went there a few weeks ago the food was awesome the only drawback...the price. My boyfriend and I had two burgers two orders of fries and 1 soda and 1 milkshake. It was $33!!! I expect to pay that much in a sit down restaurant for burgers - which this is not. It is great to get new restaurants in the loop/south loop area but I'm looking for some less expensive options!! The food was REALLY good though worth one shot at least. Save up!

Less Than Epic, But Still Very Good

With a name like "Epic Burger", I had high expectations. Whole wheat bun option is a healthy plus. Thick shakes. Upbeat ambiance.

TASTY!

I visited Epic Burger with a friend of mine a couple weeks ago to soothe a burger craving. We were NOT disappointed! Very fresh toppings, nice juicy meat (dry hamburgers are the WORST), delicious! Our only "complaint" was that the fries--while natural cut--were not as crispy as we would've liked. It's a tad pricier than your typical burger joint, but well worth the trip...and subsequent visits!
