This wine and chocolate focused Ukie Village café opened May 9. Yes, you addictive-types read that right – you can sate both of your cravings simultaneously. In addition to the obvious chocolate truffles, desserts and pastries, chocolate also appears in unexpected places -- look for cacao injections on the menu such as curry and dark chocolate dusted sea scallops and a peach-white chocolate vinaigrette on the house salad. Not loco for cocoa? There are also more traditional sandwiches, salads and small plates (sans chocolate). So what about the grape? The wine list features about 50 bottle choices with about 30 of those by the glass, and there are suggested chocolate pairings. If you prefer a little caffeine with your cocoa, there’s also a full coffee bar and loose-leaf tea service. The cafe’s walls are done in hues of merlot and chocolate (natch!), and the space is fitted with dark walnut tables, a re-purposed antique church window, chandeliers and a spacious wine rack. There’s also a private party space (dubbed the Truffle Box) geared towards interactive soirees – it’s fitted with a flatscreen TV, DVD gear and iPod ports.
